It’s definitely financially motivated. Linus said himself that AI has been very lucrative for Linux as it has expanded investment from companies that normally wouldn’t give a fuck (he name dropped NVidia specifically) on that one LTT video.

Microsoft needs to try to ruin Linux somehow, it can’t just hurt windows 11 with AI slop code, it needs to expand it’s efforts to other systems.
Honestly wonder if it was due to that interview with Jon Stewart where an EFF representative was basically told that if you’re not on Twitter (X) you’re not relevant to the discussion, effectively. While I don’t agree with that, I think that the EFF not leading by example means it’s hard to argue that other people should leave to bluseky or mastodon.
I always go mint chocolate chip when I’m getting my own ice cream.
It’s really rare for me to opt into getting a tub of it, as often I’m getting that for multiple guests or whatever, and forcing mint chocolate chip on everyone in that circumstance feels like forcing Hawaiian pizza on others at a party. So when I’m getting a scoop in store, it’s like “now’s my chance!”

Makes you wonder what they’re going to do with all this hardware they’re buying? I hope that they (the ultra rich) are the ones to hold the bag for once in their lives.
Just kidding, they’ll probably get a bailout from our (US) corrupt government.
I couldn’t believe how many people bought that Harry Potter game that came out like 2 years ago. Not only was the game shitty looking ubishlock, but also we’ve known for years just how f***ed up jk rowling is as a person.
Having said that, as I child I remember protesting against the school trying to encourage me to buy Harry Potter at the school book faire. I get now that they were only trying to encourage me to read by suggesting a popular book, but I really didn’t like the cult-like obsession around this book even as a kid, so I’ve had bad vibes around the book series since the very-late 90s lol.

Electron is the only cross platform gui toolkit…
If you ignore QT, GTK and everything else.
I’m so glad that Microsoft makes an awesome cross platfor— wait, no, but they contribute code to— hmmm … Hey, what does Microsoft do to make apps more portable again?
