If you want to look at mp3 players, they are also called DAPs for Digital Audio Player. There are a few options nowadays. Some are touch screen android devices, some are more simple with button controls and some can be loaded with Rockbox. The Echo mini is a little limited, but works pretty well. They came out with the Echo at some point which seems a little better made. If you go that route, keep an eye on fiio’s website. They’ve made some interesting updates to the firmware over time.

Hell, if you want it connected to the Internet to adjust the schedule on the fly or to report when food is low or an error has occured that’s fine. I could see that being useful. Why on earth would you make it so the actual timer functionality isn’t local?
That also assumes this is done in the same orbit as the ISS right? The ISS isn’t in a stable orbit, right?. It occasionally needs to adjust its orbit because of atmospheric drag. You’re talking about 20x the area which could be a considerable difference in mass. That’s more fuel needed per burn which also needs to be transported up to the data center. Otherwise you are looking at putting this thing in an even higher orbit which comes with its own host of problems.

As I understand it, automatic transmissions are a lot less common in Europe and manuals are almost non existent here in the US. Maybe a manual transmission forces you to be more engaged with driving than an automatic?

They aren’t entirely wrong. Grocery stores often have a bread aisle with loaves that probably fit that description. Many grocery stores also have a bakery department that has bread baked in house. I looked at their nutritional facts online and my local grocery chain says there is no added sugars in their sourdough. I know a couple of local bakeries near me as well. Not all of our bread is wonder bread.
