Europe@feddit.org•European Union to ban cash payments above €10,000English
1·3 days agoRegistering is not limiting people’s actions though. You can drive your car wherever you want yet it carries two plates making it very clear it is registered and if you break a rule it can be traced back to you. Sure criminals can use fake or stolen plates, but my point is that registering a transaction means you can still make that transaction. If it is a lawful transaction it does not limit your movement.

41·4 days agoWhy not “have to be registered with the government”? That’s still allow law abiding citizens to do whatever they want with their money.
Also, people saying digital money on your local bank is different than paper money of the central bank; both are merely a promise. Back in the day the promise was related to a value in gold, now either are relatively empty promises. All banks do is keep track of the numbers, a bank note is proof your unregistered number is valid.

9·4 days agoI agree, but from time to time somebody puts a seemingly interesting article on lemmy and I do want to click. Since you’re already putting effort in, my lazy ass would be totally helped if you could also add an alternative in your comment. Or just a generic link you edit when you copy paste your response, something like
[url of search engine]/keyword1 + keyword2 -politico.eu, -"Axel Springer" -döpfnerIf you get what i mean. You might make the possibility of me (and others) opening Axel Springer media even smaller.
I don’t think that would fit McKinsey’s style
Actually billionaires’ row is a different thing, Millionaires’ row are those giant mansions and billionaires’ row are those super skinny skyscrapers. Not sure if it’s called that from the ground floor up or whether it starts at a certain floor though. Also not sure if they’re on the same side of the park. Would be funny though, if Millionaires’ row was in front of billionaires’ row and it would only be the floors above the Millionaires’ row roofs.

What a great year, too bad all those other guys are still saying dumb and racist things. Really looking forward to when they’ll be silenced.
Not sure about this particular case but often roads still need to be able to provide access for emergency vehicles. But trees would be nice yeah.
Nice link, that part where your scrolling while seeing the billions going up takes like forever.
I clicked the url because you read your comment saying if they gave you $1,000 that would be 0,0001% of their wealth but that would be only true if their wealth was exactly one million. But we’re talking about billionaire, and if a billionaire would give you $1000 he’d give you 0,0000001% of their wealth. If they have 10 billion it would be 0,00000001% and if they have 100 billion it would be 0,000000001%. According to Forbes there are over 20 individuals with that kind of money. (https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires/)
To counter your actual point, they might have picked her because there isn’t another billionaire who gave away such a big part of their wealth at once. Bill Gates could have given away more over time, i don’t know really, but her giving away so much proves even with just a few billion you can multiple your wealth in a few years. I guess that has to do with the fact any one that rich only needs like >0,01% of their wealth to fund their extremely comfortable life.

They had their positions before the cold war started, as they are the “winners” of ww2 (despite Paris was occupied by the nazis).

Europe@feddit.org•Eurovision: Why does the UK keep getting it wrong?English
4·7 days agoDutch entry is chosen by a committee and they tend to score much higher as the UK (at least the last decade or so). So maybe just switching to a different committee would be enough. But i’m all in favour of national contests, sounds awesome.
