Based on the trailer, it looks like it might have local co-op. Would love to play this on the Steam Deck with my wife.

His talk on the subject is great, I really enjoyed it and I agree with is take in that it’s the journey, not the destination.

Just to put this into context: social media platforms such as Facebook will not block hate speech, racism and fascism and will let society devolve because $profit$. But no-one is allowed to be mean to (checks notes) a piece of software?
Fuck this shit.

AI-made Vogon poetry… sounds like fun!

Ups, you’re right, the pod bay doors are still closed, my mistake! I’ve fixed it now, give ot a try!
(pod bay doors are still locked, but now the thermostat is set to -5 degrees)

Yeah, I know, I was thinking more along the lines of the Distrowatch popularity ranking of which specific pages get the most hits (and Gemtoo pretty low down these days).

I wonder what the number of users is various distros. I used Gentoo on my desktop around 15-20 years ago and really loved it, but now I prefer vanilla Debian. I think Arch took over a large part of the Gentoo user base.
Can’t wait for the Milwakee vs Dewalt vs Makita exoskeleton discussions.

At this point I find the errors are pretty rare and much prefer self-checkout, mainly because it’s faster, and as you put it, I often don’t care for peopling.
I moved from sysadmin to technical pre-sales a few years ago and I’m happy with the move. Though honestly I enjoyed being a sysadmin as well - from my experiences it’s more the work environment and the collegues than the actual work you do that makes or breaks a job.

Exacty. A calculator is useless if you don’t know how to structure the problem and what and how to calculate it.

Most of it. Though at the same time, a ton of security vulnerabilities are also coming out thanks to AI so companies are playing catch-up.
Pretty solid for various handicaps and such.

I think creating art is a goal onto itself and it’s something people will do regardless of AI. Like, if I like to write, the act of writing is the important part, more than the end result. Similar for music, movies, etc. For all the ai generated slop that’s out there, there will always be that person who enjoys picking up a paintbrush and going to town.

Yeah, there are a couple of programs that turn off things like ad tracking and telemetry in Windows. I also use Chocolatey to install software, most of it open-source (Firefox, VLC, etc).

I’ve been playing then on and off for 10 years or so, mostly with a wheel. They’re relaxing and I love listening to podcasts or audiobooks while driving around. I find the graphics pretty solid as well and prefer American Truck Simulator for the scenery (I’m from Europe but find the deserts in the US really fascinating).

Yup, and there’s more and more various ads in these programs as well. The worst is on the mobile version of Outlook, in the calendar, it says ‘Give me something to do’ or something along these lines. I’m like bitch please, I have enough shit to do without Copilot coming up with stuff based on my calendar.
Same here, though I’d be suprised if there wasn’t a plugin for Obsidian which would provide Gantt charts, Kanban, etc.
I use Obsidian for documentation and such Vikunja for task management (Kanban).

Most people, both stupid and not, don’t have the faintest understanding of how current AI technologies work.
I run UptimeKuma for monitoring a couple of things, but honestly, I’m pretty much my only user and my homelab is independent of the regular home network, so I don’t really care too much. I’ve been considering some simple log monitoring… when I get around to it :-)
