I’m in the UK and while shit is obviously different here, it’s still very much the same in some respects. We’re all slowly being boiled and there’s basically nothing we can really do.
They/them

Considering how this has gone for indiginous and black people of your country, who’ve been dealing with this problem for the last few hundred years, I don’t think the issue is with the pacifists/non violent activists on your side. It’s with the sheer fucking scale of the power imbalance you’re facing.
Like yeah there’s now more people in your country being shot at, but the people doing the shooting still have significantly more power.
Are there enough of you collectively now being shot at, to be able to take on the basically all of capitalism that’s backing your government, funding your millitary, and controlling your economy?
It’s fucking bleak thinking about this stuff. Like even with more Luigi’s, how many will it take before the people holding the cards to make things considerably worse for most of society?
I’ve had this comic saved in my phone for a while now and it seems relevant. What with how well he predicted the future, Orwell being so against pacifists is painfully ironic.

Ah, my pattern recognition went a bit haywire there, haha.
It was a fun little wiki binge though, I keep running into Pepys’s diaries when looking stuff up about London and it’s kinda mindblowing being able to look back in time through his eyes like that, he documented so much. Also this painting of the city on fire is spectacular.

I had to look that one up as I’d not heard it before. The only reference I could find though was a youtube video, which I admittedly didn’t watch in favour of reading the wikipedia page, which does not mention any cow being involved in The Great Fire of London.

I look forward to reading about you in the news cycle. Go now while you’re still motivated.
I will never understand this weirdass creepy obsession so many adults seem to have with young girls in school uniforms.

Skill issue. Eat them with chopsticks and you won’t get smelly fingers.
Why/how is that cow from London? We don’t have cows round these parts. She should sound like a farmer, or maybe a posh village lady who still listens to The Archers.

Ugh yeah, also this.
I’ve encountered a truly depressing amount of self proclaimed ‘anarchists’ who’ve gone on and fucking on about how if they could just organise their own paramilitaries and forcibly take over the governments to impose ‘totally not fascist, we’re the good guys!’ mandatory regimes of wealth and resource redistribution on the public, they could really fix everything…
And the worst part is that I get it, I was also once a naive and optimistic teenager who read Marx and thought that if I could just explain things to people the right way they’d get it too, and we could fix everything wrong with the world together because most people were fundamentally good and would want to make the world better, if I could just get them to understand Marxist theory…
Lmao, it was fucking soul crushing realising that’s not actually how anything works.
At least back then I wasn’t on about paramilitaty takeovers and ‘anarchism’ though, like I get why more people are armchair revolutionary-ing to those extremes now but that’s just so much more fucking stupid than believing people are ‘mostly good and should read Marx’.
I try not to interract with these types of people any more, I just wish I could stop seeing them pop up so often.

“We need a revolution and vigilante justice should be meted out on the billionaire class”
I am so tired of seeing this repeated endlessly everywhere by people with no intent to actually fucking do it. Yes everything is shit but you are not improving or changing anything with these empty platitudes.

Yeah but there are a lot of shitty old buildings with shitty old wiring here.
Using the hot water tap in my kitchen nearly set my building on fire last year when the mini boiler under the sink shorted out after having melted all the insulation around the wires leading to it. That oily fishy smell of wires burning still haunts me.

A single hot day isn’t a heatwave tho.
Also I was primary school aged at that time, so there is every possibility the adults around me were using hyperbole I wasn’t picking up on.

This is Britain, we should get 5 days of sunshine a year and rain or overcast for the rest.
I feel like you’ve been out of the country for the last decade. We regularly get multiple weeks over 30c in London every summer now and the seasons have been messed up for much longer than that.
The 25c being called a heatwave thing is something I remember from the early 90’s.

Have you seen Clerks? It’s an older Kevin Smith film and there’s a lot of memorable lines in it, one that’s stuck with me though is “shit or get off the pot”, also “salsa shark” but that’s unrelated as I’m not dipping tortilla chips right now.
I’ve done and still do what I can activism wise, my gripe has been with people being ignorant to the devestating climate collapse and resource depletion in our near future, and trying to mitigate the suffering by warning people against having kids.
I support activism and think if people have identified a ‘thing that needs to be done’ they should either do it, or stop endlessly talking about how someone else should.

The issue is that the traditional weavers stayed destitute
And subsequently, many of their skills were lost to society.

I don’t think the ai and data centres are for us.
The billionaires who want to survive this upcoming apocalypse need ai to be functional in order to survive in their bunkers.
Everyone else till then is basically free labour, training material and collateral.
I wish I could tell you. My experiences (also mostly on the NHS) have been just as useless and in most cases far more actively harmful than in any way helpful.
