I think that’s viewing the past with rose colored glasses tbh. It’s easy to ignore, or simply not know about, the bad aspects of an era one does not live in, and hard to have an accurate mental picture over just how bad those are or how often they occur. However, anything positive about a past time that is not present in ours, or is perceived as being absent, one can immediately resent the absence of as soon as one learns of it.
I’d argue it all went down hill with the industrial revolution. That’s right, they’ve twisted me into agreeing with Ted Kaczynski.
