The federal center is entering the kind of decay that has ended other unions. The more autocratic the country becomes, the weaker Lincoln's case for staying, and the stronger the case for going.
Conservatives are violent by nature. They have been openly calling all non-conservatives their enemy for the last 50 years. They are now publicly calling for us to be shot in the streets (in their speeches at their official conventions). We are their enemy whether we like it or not. They insist. Calling for Democrats to be shot has been going on a long time now. Who knows if it will ever actually stick in more than isolated cases. The conservatives are openly terrorists, but so were many of the founding fathers.
I think the realization of what the US truly is would help people figure out why we are where we are.

Doesn’t Trump even now still have a 30% approval rate? That sounds like a lot of people to me.
