    Anyone know how the “one signup per household” rule works in detail? Partner and I both want one, but wanting to know if we’ll need to wait for a more opened release window for a second one

      It’s covered in the terms and conditions of the sign-up process. Here are the key bits:

      • You and your partner need separate Steam accounts. Newly created accounts aren’t eligible. Each account needs to have made a Steam purchase “prior to April 27, 2026.”
      • Valve uses “information such as shipping address and/or payment information to eliminate multiple entries.” Unless you and your partner have separate residences, Valve’s probably going to be able to spot that you’re in the same household. Even if one of you temporarily changes the account’s shipping address, billing address information will likely reveal that you two live in the same household.

        How are they planning to do that if several people live in the same house but in different apartments/households. I mean that’s the standard for larger cities.

          Apartments have apartment numbers, so different apartments would constitute separate billing/shipping addresses. For multiple people living in the same apartment/house (i.e. roommates at the exact same address), they may be SOL.

          Edit: Although, on second reading, the address check may only be to prevent multiple entries per account. Emphasis mine:

          Multiple registrations from any Steam account holder will be void.

          We will use information such as shipping address and/or payment information to eliminate multiple entries.

          Those restrictions could be done per account, so multiple Steam accounts at the same shipping/billing address might be fine as long as each account has different payment information (i.e. the accounts don’t have the same owner name and/or credit card). Could still be an issue for someone trying to register a whole family at the same address, if all the accounts are using Mom’s credit card.

            Thanks. I live in an apartment complex and usually people don’t put apartment numbers on billing or shipping addresses. Hence it would be sad, if they’d void a registartion because of that.

      I would use the shipping address of a relative for the second order.

      If you enter the same address twice, it will most likely be cancelled.

      But other than that, you should be fine.

      Strange, for me it only says that you are limited to one purchase per household. Nothing about the signup.
