Man oh man do I just love this comedy horror that’s sorta in the 80s maybe somewhat early 90s vibe. It’s got a cool story (a planet is named after one of the creators of DnD) although kinda campy. Two kids find a relic that controls this seemingly ultra powerful magical creature who was once a slave but found said relic long ago and then gained powers from it and took his revenge on those that enslaved him. The kids that found the relic end up, well, being kids and use the relic to control PG and hilarity ensues. The father of the children is a trip, he’s just so corny (like one scene he makes a lazy Susan joke because his wife’s name is Susan). The battles are totally power ranger-esque (can’t be easy fighting with all that crap on), and when PG gives his enemies the honorable death is just frighting. I’d love to see an origin story or something involving PG in the past on another planet and it goes full action horror for a prequel…I think there’s sustenance in the story to do so. 9/10 I love it it’s fantastic highly recommend a watch. It’s slapstick it’s horror it’s grotesque at times.

    Love this movie. It’s so odd and weird and funny. If you like psycho goreman you might also like some other movies from the same filmmakers:

    The Void is a straightforward horror movie with a focus on practical effects. Heavy emphasis on cosmic horror and was very effectively creepy, for me at least. I wasn’t really prepared for this one. Knocked my socks clear off.

    Death stalker is a remake of the 80s sword and sorcery flick. Decent action and effects - the lead is an accomplished martial artist and I caught a few references to harryhausen - but it also leans into the cheesiness and campiness of the source material. Not spectacular, but very fun.

    They have at least one other movie whose name I can’t recall and I’m too lazy to look up right now. It’s a feature length adaptation of the short from the v/h/s series, if you’re familiar with that one, where some kids get abducted by aliens during a sleepover. This one didn’t work for me nearly as well as the others, but I might revisit it at some point.
