Smith was pressed on why Albertans are not being given a clear definition of what the government considers a strong mandate before they cast their ballots.

“I think people know that I want these nine [proposals] to get an endorsement," she said. "I don’t want to prejudge the outcome, but I’ve made it pretty clear that I would like to proceed on these nine issues.

Can someone please explain how it’s legal to start a campaign on defecting and self annexing ? How are we doing a referendum right now ? It shouldn’t even be possible.

I believe it is performative. They have to get all the Provinces to agree to a constitutional amendment and they won’t because this was not done democratically, this is not the will of the people. The will of the people does not include taking foreign money, it’s bad faith and undermines democracy. The real killer is that the First Nations will not agree to transferring their treaties that define their land. We don’t even respect the treaties as they are currently written, and it will get worse if another legal entity is involved because a 150+ year old contracts don’t align with modern law, so they will forever stay the same.

Oh sure, she’ll know by Oct 20th… I’m so sure they will have that all counted up by then. Completely unrealistic deadline conflicting with reality which will be followed up by feigning incomprehension later. I’d hope more people realize that this is not what competency sounds like.
