Parliament House used to be a really awesome gay nightclub/hotel in Orlando, FL

and I’m certain you’d find a lot of meth in the wastewater

The Australian Parliament House has a ‘Prayer Room’ where male escorts and politicians have apparently uh … collaborated during work hours. A few of the stories I’ve read are enough to curl your hair so tightly you’d need some sort of … ‘fixer’ to fix it.

Presumably all financed by the taxpayer, too, which is where the main source of irritation comes from.

What undeveloped corner do you come from that doesn’t practice proper waste management? Do you not have a functioning government?

Most do. You can tell a lot about the health of your population by testing wastewater. Hell they can detect levels of albuterol, the medicine in asthma inhalers, to correlate with increases in air pollution. WHO has global programs for this, and the majority of countries treat their wastewater already, so it’s not a huge leap to run some tests on it.

Reporting on industrial wastewater treatment remains limited, with data only reported from 22 countries representing 8 per cent of the global population. In these countries, only 38 per cent of industrial wastewater was reported as treated, and only 27 per cent was safely treated.

I know this is from 2022, but still.

in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), grab sampling from surface waters, open drains, and pit latrines was more typical.
