Seedy bread is a guilty pleasure of mine, and that looks awesome. Also a reminder to
keep drinking my Ovaltinekeep eating my flax seeds.This bread from Aldi’s wasn’t shy about the amount of seeds.
Back East, probably in the early-90’s or so, our local supermarket had some frozen, German* bread that was absolutely DENSE with seeds & whole grains (I think it had 19 total). Kind of a miracle it even held together, really.
* or something like that
Eating it plain was not unlike eating a slab of heavy cardboard, but it toasted up mighty fine, mighty fine. Then some salty butter on top, and it went from ‘heavy cardboard’ to amazing grace. A couple slices prepared that way was like eating a hearty meal is what I’m testifying here.
Sadly, I recall that supermarket later rebranding, and the bread was gone. I never could find its like again, and I’ve been half-arse looking for years. Bah.
They had a “seed and grain” and a “seed” bread to pick from. We thought about it for three seconds and decided the seed and grain option sounded just too healthy. I knew I was going to toast it for the BLTs but go raw for the chicken salad and the cardboard factor you mentioned was going to be an issue.
we love chiccy salad 🥰
What are the quantities of said ingredients? I’ve never made chicken salad before but seeing the ingredients makes me want to try!
Amounts are estimated because I just went by feal adding as the color palette needed adjustment.
12.5 oz can of chicken.
Maybe 1/2 a cup julienned carrots.
Scant 1/4 cup each of fine chopped onion and bell pepper.
2 tbsp chopped pickled banana peppers.
1 tbsp capers.
1/4 cup mayo.
2 tbsp brown mustard.
S&P to taste.If I did it again I’d probably add some craisins and maybe a second smaller can of chicken.
