Hello everyone.
I’ve been making my way through Scavengers Reign and I’ve really been enjoying the emphasis in showing and incorporating the alien planet biology, into the story telling and world building.
I’m curious if there are any other TV shows (or movies for that matter,) that lean greatly towards showcasing or use the biology in the story telling way(s)?
edit: improved title to better guide my question
Definitely The Expanse, both the novels and the show do very cool things with alien biology and ecosystems.
Also maybe Helix, although that’s much more terrestrial and not as memorable.
Have you seen the film Fantastic Planet (currently on HBO Max)?
I have not. I watched the trailer and I realized that my past self would have enjoyed this while taking ‘a trip’ on the ‘high’ road. But it now seems too psychedelic a bit too bizarre for my liking now.
Never the less, thank you for the suggestion.
There’s some spacey ones, but I can’t recall their names or if they’re two plots for the same show.
Some desperate folk with different back stories on dystopian earth get themselves sent/smuggled towards making a new colony in cryo sleep. They wake up to an alien biological infection.
Shockingly, in another cryo sleep colony ship show, the ai wakes up some passengers because they’re running low on resources or something like that. (Passengers, anyone?) They find a water asteroid, go inside to mine it, obviously a pair of them take their helmets off because there’s breathable air for some reason and bring back an alien spore infection. The whole waking crew gets infected and they open the shutters to irradiate themselves with some sun rays, which is deadly to the alien spores.
Bonus, they’re all now sterile, which later tries to become a plot point. Or tries to, don’t remember.Anyway, I think they got cancelled. If anyone recognizes them better, feel free to share.
