I don’t have any of those problems with Plex. And the jellyfin interface is absolute garbage. It looks like some high school kid slapped it together for a class project.

It’s missing all of the library cross-linking that I rely on with Plex, especially because the three Plex servers. I administer have at least 8 different libraries, one of them has 12. Plex looks slick and professional. Just like I think it should. Jellyfin looks like a class project, slapped together at the last minute.

For me, Plex loads very, very quickly, and I don’t get any performance boost from jellyfin.

And now that you mention mobile access, I can count on Plex running smoothly and reliably across any client on any device anywhere. And a reliable native app is available on pretty much any platform. With jelly fin, I have to fish around for a client that works on a few platforms, if I’m lucky, and they’re unreliable, unstable, and lacking in most of the features that I know Plex has had for a decade or more.

For me, for the scale of media and the number of servers, I’m administering, it’s not even a choice. I hope jelly Finn gets there eventually, but they are years away from that point.

It doesn’t load quickly unless you avoid Plex servers, because authentication happens through them.

Jellyfins interface is great what are you talking about? Easy, quick and to the point. Does exactly what I want.

Plex cant make up its mind what to do as they keep making it worse. More clicks to get anywhere and adding their own crap all the time.

Sorry, Plex is a mess. I just opened it now, and its so bad.

        I’ve never had this issue

As for the interface, the Plex interface is to the point. Jellyfin is missing a huge amount of additional information that both I and my users rely on. If you just want very simple information, fine. But both I in my users don’t. They expect a rich media experience that Plex delivers and jellyfin does not.

I guess it really comes down to which experience delivers what you’re looking for. Plex delivers what I’m looking for and what my users are looking for. Jellyfin just doesn’t. But I’m glad that you’re getting what you want. And that’s what makes it the better choice for you and what makes Plex the better choice for me and my users.

Well yes you do sit and wait for Plex to log you in and for their logo. Jellyfin is up and ready to go nearly instantly.

I think jellyfin does have the information I want, but gets out of the way and lets me get on with it. All the extra crap Plex ads like their own channels, searching outside my libraries is all just more stuff I have to turn off.

However, I think it’s ok to say it works for you and jellyfin works for me.

Which is about different than jellyfin needs to catch up. It’s already surpassed Plex for some.

I’m glad you get the experience you want, but I don’t know how you can say it has “surpassed Plex, by having a 1/50th of the features.

And if your main complaint is that you have to disable some of them, or wait a couple of seconds for a splash screen once a week/month when you have to reload the app, those don’t really seem like reasonable complaints to me.

But, like I said, if you’re getting the experience you want, good for you. It’s just not the experience I want, or my users want.

Lol 1/50th Features? You mean all the shit Plex adds to make it suck?

You are really exaggerating. What exactly can Plex do that jellyfin doesn’t? Not counting the crap like thier own ad channels.

I can think of maybe 2 and one of them is the easy remote access if you use then to login.

Hell, jellyfin still lets you watch together, which Plex took away.

The feature I miss the most from Plex though is photo sync. That was really handy and then they took it away.
