the fact that they can remove features from devices ALREADY PRODUCED proves they are full of shit and don’t care about consumers, or their products.

Sounds a lot like the “stop killing games” movement. As someone else mentioned, this stuff needs regulation forcing it to function as originally advertised for at least five to seven years.

If it’s built into the TV there’s actually no reason to disable it imo. Not just for 5 to 7 years

Bravia TV owners who keep their TVs offline (and thus reduce the amount of tracking and ads experienced) and rely on an antenna connection can still access a TV guide through the TV’s OS.

And this is why you never connect your TV directly to the Internet (if you can help it). Current Bravia TV’s have a ‘basic TV’ option on setup. When that’s selected it doesn’t expect you to connect it. And by taking this option it remains completely severed from bullshit updates that strip away features.

Let the TV just be a TV, and let streaming be handled through a separate streaming box.

My Bravia experience improved markedly when I replaced Sony’s default home screen with the Projecivity Launcher.

While on one hand I sort of understand the need to focus on features that are relevant to the majority, you can’t remove features from your devices. Even letting people permanently shut down updates to stay on the last version that supports these features (and having a permanently accessible rollback, if not an the ability to officially load your own firmware) is must.

Anything less than that is basically crime.

What does “channels delivered through an antenna” mean? Does cable count as antenna, since it uses the same input? Digital vs analog signal? What is not antenna?
