Governments want you to think they know everything about you but they really don’t, although they relentlessly want to, which is why they pass all of these surveillance bills. For this case specifically, the verification is done by a company owned by Peter Thiel called Persona, not the government. In either case, no one should know everything about you because privacy is a human right.
