I mean, a LOT of young people from the US died to make it happen. Yeah, it was winding down, but people from the US joined up in Canada and Britain and etc to help before the US officially joined. We can recognize their heroic efforts without snark.
Well my Canadian family was in the war years before the Americans ended their isolationist policy and only my grandfather returned. We also declared war on Japan after Pearl Harbour before even the USA did.
At that time Canada had complete control over their foreign policy and voted to declare war, initially against Germany they waited several days to to underline the choice was not mandatory
