This is the right answer. A good corset distributes the weight to your torso and hips, and keeps things in place and supported without straining your shoulders. I wish there were more modern equivalents of Edwardian corsets that were readily available. There are so many “boudoir” bustiers and gothy or Steampunk or fetish corsets everywhere, but if you want a plain cotton one for everyday underwear there’s like maybe three or four specialty online shops or you just have to make one.
Heads up, they’re expensive because they are not mass produced. Almost all corsets made to be everyday garments are specialty items made by very small shops or individuals catering to reenactors and other niche markets.
However, if you take care of it it should last a decade or more, so if you can afford it it might be a great investment for you.
I was going to suggest Redthreaded, but it looks like they swapped to only doing patterns just this past December 😞
