As a German I never visited and probably never will. I consider it a tourist trap.

Also haven’t been there. As a German coming from outside Bavaria, it is absolutely uninteresting. From what I heard it is mainly tourists, alcohol abuse and sexual harassment.

Not heen there myself, but from what I hear from family in the area: expensive, packed and puckey. Most locals visit early in the day, before the drunk party people invade.

Try to stay away from Hofbräu, Löwen and Sparten beer, they are garbage, go for Augustiner instead.

Also: hotels in Munich become ridiculously expensive during Oktoberfest.
