I’ve encountered this sort of point before, you’ll likely find many examples right on Lemmy. Does the US “not have culture”? Does it have lots of different cultures? Has it just been so good at spreading culture that everything feels American?

Post picture is something that feels uniquely US, for better or worse

I enjoy this answer better than one I could have written.
I will add though that any portion of a culture that goes against reality itself I would consider truly “bad”, not merely “different”. e.g. as the picture depicts someone who is unhealthy yet seems to feel zero shame in remaining that way and even proudly flaunts it. Put on a shirt rather than subject the rest of us to have to see that! Or better yet hit the gym, or even easier and also far more effective, simply cut back consumption (which involves consuming differently - more veggies, less salty meats & sugars). Ofc it’s easier said than done - knowledge, feelings of hopelessness/powerlessness, etc. do help explain why people give up, although I would also argue that understanding != justifying?
