The US is not the only country in the planet nor is its creation the epoch of the beginning of time. You do know that legal frameworks and other countries also existed before the US?

The US is not the only country that experienced a population boom after the second world war, they didn’t even experience the largest population boom by a long mile. The cultural markers are usually slightly different, but they also have a ton of overlap, over all continents and countries. Perhaps, perhaps not. Separating a marriage after 25+ years is no easy thing. The sheer inertia can be impossible to overcome.
