      IIRC it was a signal used for meetups and the like during the early days of orange site, its purpose was to signal in-group in a “subtle” way

      Years ago, reddit decided that their official way to identify other redditors IRL would be a challenge phrase, and the key would be “The Narwal Bacons at midnight”, because Narwals and bacons being good were memes at the time.

      Even at the time it was cringe and strange.
