The IRGC said the “LN” tail code on the wreckage identified the aircraft as belonging to the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath in Britain, home to the 493rd Fighter Squadron.

Some analysts suggested the debris could instead belong to an F-15E Strike Eagle, as the red coloring visible on the wreckage aligns with markings on F-15s from the same squadron.

    No it’s a f-15. The A10 was downed during the rescue mission for the f15. The livery is from a flight squadron that is based in the UK which doesn’t have any A10.

      Yeah I did not imply, or mean to imply it was this example specifically, I was discussing A-10 program as it has been attempted to be shut down numerous times, I thought fellow aircraft enthusiasts would be interested.
