im not sure if they are hashtags what im talking about. im on piefed though but I know other communities have posts where you have to choose a dropdown and they make colorful tags that you can filter on from the community feed.
Oh I meant the free text “tags” field at the bottom of the piefed post creation form that lets you add a hashtag so that people on other fedi services like mastodon can find your posts. I see now what you’re suggesting.
Maybe a warning if you don’t use it could help.
I swear I have posted to some communities where you had to choose something or it would stay greyed out.
