If I could figure out some way to use dandelion roots that would be awesome. They look like they could actually be pretty filling.

The conventional wisdom is that they barely ever work, but they’re also cheap enough per view it still makes economic sense for the one influenced purchase per person per year or whatever.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Should I warn people that I am a narcissist and have antisocial behavior
2·4 hours agoYep, although it’d be pretty surprising if it went like this. OP is straight up worried they’re being bad to others, and willing to invite embarrassment by announcing it. (Unless they never really meant it)
Like, amateur over-the-internet diagnosis is worthless, but BPD would fit the almost no information we have better.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Should I warn people that I am a narcissist and have antisocial behavior
10·18 hours agoYou might have mental health issues, but I kind of doubt you have those ones just from the basic context.
I’m going to say no. Try to be nice, let people figure out the rest. And look for some kind of support if possible.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Should I warn people that I am a narcissist and have antisocial behavior
5·18 hours agoYeah, something else seems to be going on. A narcissist doesn’t consider warning people about themselves.
Lemmy is pretty Western, you might not get great answers here. Or even ones that make basic sense where you are. In my original reply I talked about staying warm, which might not be a problem for you. On the other hand, vehicles are much too expensive to consider as a housing option anywhere developing.
Some stuff is universal, like how debt works if that’s a factor.
This needs more details. If you have significant assets and/or debts, it’s a legal question about bankruptcies in your jurisdiction.
If you’re just watching your bank account slowly tick down it’s a very different question. And even there, the advice varies quite a bit by what your current lifestyle is. At one end it might be “stop going out on the town every night and you’ll be fine”, at the other we’re talking about how to stay warm and clean-ish on the streets once you lose your trailer.
And then there’s the possibility it’s something directly fixable, too, like you just have a ton of credit card debt you could refinance.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In the US, why doesn't a personal savings account make more sense than health insurance?
161·5 hours agoBecause you probably won’t get a multi-million-dollar cancer, but might. Or, looked at another way, someone will get cancer, and with insurance everyone is just a little less well off, instead of a few people being absolutely ruined.
I know little about American healthcare, but that’s how insurance in general works. (From what I’ve heard, there’s also a premium that just goes to anticompetitive bullshit in that specific case)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Please Explain Polymarket like I'm 5 and how it all started.
1·19 hours agoThere’s an actual information argument to be made if it’s betting on something important, and there’s no better, more clinical method to figure out that thing. In some experiments, a critical mass of people guessing has actually been fairly effective.
Most betting market bets are not on those things.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Everyone in the world now has the same values and morals you do; how does the world change?
3·19 hours agoTBH it might actually be fucked. Not because I’m a bad person, but because I’m adjusted to living in the world we live in. For the first time there’s several of me in the same place, and however that turns out is going to happen a lot. There’s just bound to be some weird interaction, or some way I’m deficient.
Even outside of magical hypotheticals, a mix of people is a good thing. That can be said definitively, because you can find self-selected monocrops of people “in the wild”, and they tend to suck.

2·19 hours agoIt’s absolutely true. They might be a building over from someone doing level 1 tech support but making half the hourly rate.
Just having no morals won’t make you rich, but it can pay the rent alright.

1·20 hours agoIn some civil cases they do literally just ask for a cut of any winnings.
Plus, it’s bloat. A snippet of extra code isn’t going to cause much trouble, but then you end up doing it a lot, and there’s snippets in the snippets, and all the sudden something that used to fit on a floppy is 3 gigs.
I have no idea how much of a factor this is relative other various performance-sacrificing shortcuts, but Wirth’s law is a thing.
Does it matter what kind of dependancy? Like, sure, if it’s somebody’s 5-year-old school project that’s bad, I guess. (I’m experiencing this meme right now)

14·20 hours agoHey, most people here think she’s nuts too.

Very long time as in possibly forever. They just get a bit less nutritious if it’s been many years.
Where I live it turns out they’re even cheaper if you go to a dollar store instead of a grocery store, and some items are just as good. If anyone wants pantry recipes, I have a bunch by now.
