I came to this thread to talk about my area and I see I’ve already been beat lol
I’m also in the PNW
I’ve missed so much cool stuff because of clouds lol

Lightroom is quite the standard as well, Darktable is a solid alternative to it though.
I never learned Photoshop, I started with GIMP and I’ve loved it for years
Yeah the website freezes with firefox but works fine in a chromium browser

Based AF right there
EDIT: Not to mention it can provide valuable feedback on improving the software in the future.

Ah so it’s an overflow bug

Exactly!
Is your keyboard app secure (yes seriously)? Does you device store notification details? Can your notifications be viewed without unlocking the device?
Those are all little concerns that need to be considered.

The fires from EVs (ones that use lithium batteries that is) are incredibly hard to extinguish.
Sodium ion batteries don’t ignite which makes them even safer.

“But Teslas are electric and Teslas are bad!” -the person we’re replying to.
It’s like the commenter doesn’t realize there’s more electric cars than just Teslas.

So they have the same kind of headlights that brodozers have, gotcha

So the article’s source has been updated. Tesla was number 1 in the last year’s report (2024’s numbers) but it’s number 3 now (2025’s numbers).
Source used by the article you shared
TLDR: It’s a close battle between BMW (44.9 per 1000), Ram (44.7 per 1000), and Telsa (42.8 per 1000)
EDIT: “That includes accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations” If you instead just isolate accident rates it’s slightly different: Ram (23.9 per 1000), Subaru (23.2), and Tesla (23.1).
I should clarify that I’m not a fan of Tesla AT ALL. I’d love to see Tesla fail (in particular Elon failing especially). There’s more electric car’s than just Tesla’s.
Slightly unrelated but I got a solid chuckle out of the different modes they added in the drop down on the XKCD website under teh comic, Space Opera mode is my favorite.
Kepler-452b was having a private conversation with Australia when the photographer snuck up and got the candid photo.
Unfortunately Kepler-452b was embarrassed by having the intimate moment interrupted and left in a hurry.
Though their conversation was pleasant, the photographer ruined the mood and numbers were not exchanged.

Mmmm, tastes like FOSS

Of my friend group we’ve got 2 people on Kubuntu, 2 running Pop_OS, 1 with a Steam Deck running Steam OS, and 2 running Bazzite. We’ve all dipped our toes in Linux over the years in various ways and at various times/
Funnily enough I’m the only one who started on Mint, everyone else started on Ubuntu (well, except Steam Deck guy).
Personally I’ve only dipped my toes into CachyOS in the last few weeks. The main reason was due to it being talked about a lot and a more popular distro will be easier to get help with.

I’d love to see it take off like Blender has recently, it’s definitely on the right path as of late

FreeCAD since it’s gone to 1.0 has been my replacement and it’s been quite nice to work with
It’s got a bit of a learning curve because of some different workflow things but all in all I’ve been enjoying it

Finally cutting the cord on Windows due to finally breaking free from the last bits of software keeping you there feels so good.
When those gaps in when you boot into that Windows partition get further and further apart until the day it finally happens. The day that you no longer remember the last time you booted into that Windows machine. The day you can finally let yourself be free.
For me the last pieces were Lightroom and Fusion360.

I’ve only recently dipped into it
I’ve been using Kubuntu though for awhile on all but 2 of my systems, my NAS and my main rig. I’m testing CachyOS though and I’m seeing no issues so far.
Of course once I’ve got KDE up it all looks like it should lol
I think they’re trying to voice their support of the guy in this comic by stating that, “They’re just telling them what they’ve got to offer. that isn’t a problem”.
They’re a mod on a conservative community with a ton of alts on different instances each with significant numbers of entries in the modlogs, I’d say they can be ignored.
“Wait that’s gonna be an option?!? I’ve got to protect that!” - Jesus probably when he discovered his kink in the garden.
