  • This. I have opinions on waste management, please indulge a little rant, if you will?

In my city they also now have us pay for the privilege of dumping residual waste. It’s worth noting that residual residential waste is stuffed into a silo - the users bring it to a collection point, and open it with an RFID key card. You’re sent a bill for each time this is opened.

It’s also worth noting that the plastic bin, if it looks like they can’t sort it, they will toss it in general waste.

These factors combine into a situation where:

    • Tossing things in the recycling bin has it end up in gen waste anyway
    • It’s cheaper for the end user to dump their residual waste inappropriately, either by stuffing it into recycling despite not going there, or by dumping it in the bushes somewhere

Imo, fixes would include the following:

    • At the very least, using the general waste silo should not come with extra costs
    • Recyclables and residual waste should be merged into a single waste flow, which is to be recycled in general.
    • We should make work of actual plastic recycling at a commercial scale.

  • That fails to consider that if people speak of “an invasive species,” they’re almost certainly using the botanical definition of that word, which boils down to “a species not native to the ecosystem where the speaker as found it,” and where native species are species that exist within an ecosystem without ever having had humans show up in said ecosystem.

Just because you like that plant being there does not mean said plant stops being invasive.

And if an organism has existed in an ecosystem for millennia, long before any human ever set foot there, then it doesn’t matter how annoying it is, it is a native species.

  • Looks like the joke flew over your head…

But to indulge your more serious angle, yeah, it’s well thought through. And if your source is the one I think it is, that one also packages in that “NATO Phonetic Alphabet” is a bit of a misnomer.

It’s not a phonetic alphabet, since it doesn’t type out what sounds one must make to pronounce words correctly. And the main devs weren’t NATO, but ICAO. NATO was just gonna adopt it and issue some feedback for improvements.

  • Tbf, a 32 would hit almost anything. We literally had this at one of my tables the other day.

    DM: does a 32 hit?

ME, THE FIGHTER: WHAT‽‽ That’s about twice what you need to hit! How high is its attack modifier‽

    DM: And it wasn’t even a crit. I only rolled a 19.

To be fair though, I was bluntly tanking a bloody Roc, if that was what was gonna kill me, I’d be like “yeah, that tracks.”
