Yeah Ancient Aliens has always been real weird, and I’m gonna be honest I’ve never heard of the Ancient Aryans thing so… yeah the similarities are weird for sure. Few things to note.

The Parthenon is Greek, the Romans built the coliseum — also, the Native Americans didn’t have a unified name for the Americas. If it makes you feel better you can say indigenous people of the American continents, or even Indigenous Americans, but calling them strictly American is genuinely awful.

My mom was born in Keams Canyon, and I’ve visited. If you went there calling the people there Americans they would not appreciate it. They’re Hopi, or maybe Navajo.

  • Not to defend Netanyahu, he’s a despicable piece of shit.

Israel has about 10 million people in it. If I’m not mistaken, he’s saying that it would be like the United States losing 40k people — because the way the numbers work out 1000 people from Israel is around 0.01% of their population and 40000 people from the U.S. is around 0.01% of our population.

All that being said - Netanyahu certainly does believe that every Israeli is worth infinitely more than any American. Unfortunately his words in this circumstance do not directly reflect that belief. Perhaps indirectly, but not directly.

Edit: my numbers are not 100% accurate due to quik maffs, but you get my point.

  • I don’t know if this is accurate — striving to reach financial freedom in the form of near infinite levels of wealth is not a sign of mental disease. That’s what I’d call a dream, and it could be purely motivated.

Now, having that dream and being willing to do anything to obtain it — that’s a different story. That’s what it takes to be a billionaire, you have to be completely willing to crush people beneath you for the simple fact that it makes you more money. Many people, myself included, are simply incapable of deciding to harm someone else for simple profit.

Like, I’m not a hyper space nazi because I’d like to be a Viltrumite. I just want to live 1000 years and be super strong and fly and stuff.

  • escalate things such that everyone around you is in danger too.

No — there’s no escalation past the guy almost hitting someone with his car. That is the point of escalation. If anything, kicking the car is a deescalation — because escalation would mean trying to kill the driver. Whether that’s shooting them, beating them to death, whatever. Because that is literally the level they were brought to by the driver/ shooter.

You’re essentially victim blaming by trying to suggest that the guy who kicked the car contributed to the escalation.

That being said, of course the best course of action is to leave. Not everyone is ok with almost dying and not giving the person who did it a piece of your mind. Unfortunately it played out like it did.

  • So, I’ve got a Steam Deck and I’ve tried them out — my only problem is that the Steam Deck is a touchscreen. Why bother with the touchpads to type when I can just touch the screen?

I haven’t tried the functionality of it for RTS or 4x games because… well, if I feel inclined to play those games it’ll be on my PC.

But all this goes back to my orignal point, the thing just doesn’t look comfy to hold. If the touchpads aren’t meant to be competent analog stick replacements then it looks like my thumbs will be awkwardly positioned somewhat over the touchpads. Not only does it seem like the analog sticks are cramped, but what happens when my palm rests on my controller and the touchpad freaks out?

Idk, I actually want Valve to succeed so I’m not really trying to shit on the controller - this are just my thoughts. I could be wrong and it’s the literal best controller ever. Fingers crossed.

  • I see what you’re going for, but there are a couple things;

    1. The shooter shouldn’t have had a gun or the license to drive. If his mental state was that hair-trigger it’s a travesty that this combination of elements was allowed to happen.

    2. What other response would have been appropriate? Are you suggesting we should just passively allow bullies to do whatever they want?

So, more or less — no. If you think the appropriate reaction to almost being hit by a car is to throw your hands up and run away screaming, that’s the appropriate action for you. Not everyone is going to respond the same way, and being mad/lashing out about almost being critically injured is a perfectly reasonable response.
