They aren’t the arbiter of what is and isn’t a war.

They aren’t the arbiter of what is and isn’t a war.

Yes, that is technically true. It is also completely legal. For reference it is also legal to shoot an enemy soldier in the back as they run away. It is legal to shoot an enemy soldier in any case except where they are clearly trying to surrender, including if they are just laying there unconscious.
The rules of war allow for far more than people realize. And Again, I’m not trying to let them off the hook. There’s real questions about this entire thing being a war crime and about their targeting of bombs.

I loved reading his definition of a war crime. It’s basically describing himself at this point, a person sick of mind who is powerful and rich with nuclear weapons. No reasonable leader gets on a social media platform and sends, “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
No reasonable president threatens to destroy an entire civilization.
It takes a sickness of the mind to justify hitting civilian targets just because they indirectly benefit the military.

Unfortunately what is allowed in war is still pretty brutal. This was a warship and it would be a legitimate target from the moment the war started, without exception.
Let’s focus on the actual war crimes, like the Pentagon redefining “military target” to include destroying energy, food, and fresh water infrastructure because soldiers need to drink water too… Hitting those targets would still be a war crime, the Pentagon is not the arbiter of what is and isn’t a military target.

Don’t ever engage with culture sensing surveys honestly. The only place they weren’t a trap (ironically) was the US Army where they did it on paper, punished people for putting their names on them, and walked right past your entire immediate chain of command to their bosses with the results. And the one time things were truly bad they literally brought in a Sociology expert to study our unit and figure out how things had gone bad, it resulted in all new leadership and team building exercises, in a war zone. (These results do not extend to other branches, I had one done by the Navy and it was corpo trap bullshit, got a lot of the Army guys there by surprise.)
True, but you’d need to really stay under the radar in such a world. Any point of contact where someone else knows you have that money would put you at risk. And those can be generated just by getting the money in the first place.
For the record I think it would be a terrible world. Historically, mob violence often kills innocent people, all it would take would be an accusation. And one person’s poverty is another person’s wealth. They wouldn’t exactly stop to ask about the economically defined classes. It would be more like, “Dave got a luxury car, I wonder how much money he’s hiding…”
And also, I think I would be someone giving it away as fast as possible. I’m like you, after a couple creature comforts and securing the rest of my life, there’s no more need for the money. It’s not like I can take it with me.
In a hypothetical world where billionaires cannot go outside a security perimeter for fear of their lives, how soon would we see people refusing the inheritance or donating massive portions?
Yes. Preservation that’s why it was taken. You see that statue was in imminent danger of being left there for the local people to preserve. The horror!
My favorite story about the British stealing shit is that time they stole a cultures entire written history. They had it all written on tablets and arranged in a specific order. It never occurred to them though that they should put page numbers because who would jumble them up? Who would destroy their history like that? Ah yes, the British, that’s who.
But that’s all in the past, and now it’s the only place on earth that can preserve these things. The only place. There is no other place. No possible other home for these artifacts.
NCD is leaking again. Someone get the 100mph tape.
