There is a pipeline able to transport oil from Germany via Czechia and Slovakia to Ukraine, which connects to the Druzhba pipeline, which then flows to Hungary. There is also a pipeline coming from Odesa, which connects to Druzhba. Hungary is also a fairly small country, so importing fuel from abroad is possible. Especially if you lower consumption by using EVs.

Gas can be brought in from the south, but also Ukraine if need be.

Companies doing that almost certainly have either business degrees or lawyers as top managment and not people with for example engineering degrees. If you do not understand the technology, it becomes really hard to improve the product.

It is really funny that the treat the US has made against Spain is to remove a large military base in either Spain or Germany. The US currently has two facilities in Spain namely some aircraft in Moron and a naval presence in Rota. Moron is a small base for the US. So the only one they might close in Spain is Rota, which is a naval base close to the Strait of Gibraltar. The US Navy will be pissed, if they loose that base.

So the US, if the military can do anything about it, will close a base in Germany.

I would not be surprised if Tesla is currently selling off the overproduction of the last couple months on a loss.

Fine then move US troops out of Spain, Italy and Germany or whatever countries Trump does not like today.

That still means that the two submarines will launch at different times, making interception easier and if the submarine has to be moved, it can be found and destroyed.

The EU already is a defensive alliance. The main issue is the lack of a large enough military command structure. There already is one with the MPCC, but it is only able to command 2500 soldiers, which is obviously not even close to enough. Honestly I would built up a dual structure. A central EU military structure, which contains the highest military command able to coordinate all EU militaries, and some strategic assets like nuclear weapons(and means to use them like missiles, submarines, bombers etc), anti ballistic missile, AWACS, SIGINT and other really expensive strategic assets. Those would be funded by the EU. The member countries then also have their own militaries, which contribute similar to NATO with certain assets.

The good part is that the EU can do things, which are not military in nature, but defense related. Energy is a very obviou field as are sanctions. That makes the EU a much better bases for a follow up NATO than NATO without US.

I might go as far as to say German culture is the least capable of resisting fascism in Europe based on the last ~150 years of history.
