It could be fixable, only way to find out is opening it up. I’d first try reseating all the ribbon cables, as one of them might have come loose because of the drop. Otherwise, if you can identify any damaged parts, you can get replacements for most of them and replacing them is pretty doable. If you can’t find any physical damage, your best option is probably to send it in.

Games@lemmy.world•‘Seeking connection’: the video game (Arc Raiders) where players stopped shooting and started talking...English
44·3 days agoTo me it seems like any kind of communication in multiplayer games has gotten less and less over the years. Used to be pretty common to just talk about random stuff with random people in games like CS, DayZ and even Overwatch years ago, but in recent years, I hardly remember any instances of people using voice chat at all, let alone using it to say anything positive. So if this is true and common for Arc Raiders, which I haven’t played, it seems to be a positive outlier. Also curious about other people’s experience.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When did you realize that all laws are made to benefit the rich and/or oppress the rest of us, and a politician's job is to write the laws and sell them to the voters?
1·3 days agoNo way you haven’t read the other replies to my comment.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When did you realize that all laws are made to benefit the rich and/or oppress the rest of us, and a politician's job is to write the laws and sell them to the voters?
126·4 days agoThe US is a hellhole with a billionaire class living above the law, sure, not arguing with that. I guess maybe I should have assumed US defaultism for this question.
But OP made a blanket statement about all laws, and didn’t specify a country either. If your username is any indication you’re a Marxist. How do you think a Marxist state would work without laws?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When did you realize that all laws are made to benefit the rich and/or oppress the rest of us, and a politician's job is to write the laws and sell them to the voters?
225·4 days agoThat has certainly been the case in some places, though by no means all of them. Enforcement is also a separate issue to the law itself.
But to provide some maybe better examples, do laws that enshrine workers’ rights to form a union only serve to benefit the rich? Laws that limit donations to political parties? I really don’t think you can make that argument for all laws.

249·4 days agoI guess I haven’t yet. Maybe you can help me: How do laws against, for example, rape, only benefit the rich while oppressing the rest of us?

Europe@feddit.org•Von der Leyen uses Orbán defeat to push for end of veto in EU foreign policyEnglish
22·5 days agoShe, and many others, have wanted to change this rule for years. Ending the veto has pretty broad support within the EU. But actively pushing for it was pointless until now, because Orban’s Hungary would have, y’know, vetoed it.
Mate, the point is that they’re not talking cartoon anthropomorphic animals, like the characters in Zootopia are. Was that really not obvious or are you just in the mood to argue and insult some people for no reason?
I meant to write sapient, not sentient. Fixed.
Carnivores in Zootopia eat fish and insects, which are considered non-sapient, as well as plant-based food.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does purchasing a game on GOG.com really grants ownership of the game and not a license to use it?
1·16 days agoTechnically no, it still grants you a license like any other store. In practice it’s a bit closer to ownership than what you get with other stores, as GOG does not have the ability to take your games away once you have downloaded them and you can do whatever you want with the files. But you’re not legally allowed to sell your copy for example.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bizarre attacks by neighbor with unknown method/device
1·17 days agoSure. But all I’m saying is to consider the possibility, since if it were a paranoid delusion, you wouldn’t know it. It would feel completely real to you, because that’s how it works.
And I’m not even saying that it’s necessarily that. There are many medical conditions that could cause the type of pain you describe. Maybe see a GP first.
But your neighbors using some kind of “device” on you - that’s extremely unlikely and AFAIK not even possible in the way you describe.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bizarre attacks by neighbor with unknown method/device
0·17 days agoThat is, indeed, what every paranoid individual thinks. If people were aware of being paranoid, they wouldn’t be paranoid.
Think about what’s more likely: your neighbors torturing you with some kind of sci-fi tech, or you having a medical condition?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bizarre attacks by neighbor with unknown method/device
1·17 days agoThere is no such device. What you need is, in all likelihood, a therapist, or a doctor in any case.

Europe@feddit.org•Is cafeteria food served across European schools better than America?English
1·25 days agoWhen I started high school in Germany, there wasn’t even a cafeteria. You could only buy some snacks or crappy pizza slices from the caretaker. During lunch break, students mostly ate food they brought from home or went to some nearby food places. Later on, they built a proper cafeteria and the food there was pretty decent. It was provided by a local catering company and you had the choice between 2 different menus each day (vegetarian and non-vegetarian). There was a decent variety, it usually contained fresh vegetables and it tasted fine. Personally, I wouldn’t say it was as good as home-made, but I guess that depends upon your home.
I haven’t been to a US school or a prison, so I can’t really compare it to those. Though from what I’ve read, prison food isn’t particularly bad here either, so maybe it’s not even that different, IDK.
