Fair enough, but Climate Town is a very well researched and put-together channel, and they cite their research. If any of this has changed significantly in the market he’s explicitly talking about (North America), then I can see your frustration. But I don’t think it’s gotten much better, especially not in the USA.

A big part of the video, if you get around to watching it is about how plastic recycling is objectively something born from an industry scam. It’s a scam because they knew the recycling couldn’t work how they were promising it would, and they pushed it anyways to evade accountability.

Some countries surely handle things better than North America, but that doesn’t automatically make plastic recycling a completely legitimate venture that isn’t laden with deception and and bullshit. I’m Canadian, and I know we don’t handle recycling in the best way. Do I still sort my trash, and recycle everything I’m able to? Of course! Anything is better than nothing, and Rollie explicitly says so in the video…

But it’s still accurate: the idea of recycling plastic is born from deception & lies, for the sake of money. If lying for money isn’t a scam, I don’t know what is.

I grew up (and still live) in a part of Canada where it regularly gets below -40°C in the winter, and… no. I 100% will say stuff like “I can’t take off any more clothes.”

Winter is fine, I can always add another layer. Summer sucks now, it didn’t get this hot nearly as often in the past, and I mostly hate summer now.

Well, it’s a good thing I’m not talking about doing legal things. I’m talking about doing illegal things, like blocking the road. If someone pulls off the street, and parks legally, not blocking traffic, that’s fine!

No, I do not take illegal and dangerous shortcuts at my job. I value the quality of my work, and the safety of my peers.

If someone doing their job properly and safely, with the correct equipment comes home late every day, that’s the Ultra-Jerk boss’s fault, like I said. Everyone should be able to safely and legally do their job in the allotted time, without having their employment threatened.

Just because your employer doesn’t give you enough time to properly and safely complete your job (while still following traffic laws) doesn’t make traffic laws stop being law.

Yes, blocking the street “but only for a minute” makes you a jerk, even if you’re just trying to do your job.
