There never was any actual suspicion of CSAM. I assume its what they tell you to get you to let your guard down or make you more inclined to comply.

I have heard of another instance where customs claimed they wanted to search a phone for CSAM despite actually wanting to find something else. It worked in that instance.

In general, I hate this prescident of sentencing parents for the actions of their children. In this case there does seem to be serious negligence on the part of the father. I don’t love this, but I definitely understand

This is the first I’ve heard of the situation so I could be wrong, but he was introduced as a youtuber. If YouTube (a big tech product) is the source of his fame and income, isn’t it silly to say he shouldn’t be using any big tech products at all?

There is obviously room for compromise and nuance, like limiting the info he gives them, but I don’t think that’s what you’re advocating for
