2·1 day agoIt’ll be like the 70s in the US again. Rip out all the bullshit smog stuff and put on a new carb. Because a v8 mustang shouldn’t be making 130hp.

Yeah, I’d say they are in comparison. The problem is they’re really really expensive. I get it isn’t ever going to be cheap or cheaper to do it their way, but the buy in is like double to triple. That doesn’t include replacement/upgrade parts down the road. It’s worth it for a really small niche of people for sure though.

Users: We just want OS wide dark mode, AI not rammed down our throats, and non stop ads, and hopefully updates that don’t break everything repeatedly.
MS: We hear you loud and clear! We’re implementing AI into every single thing and the ADs will now be targeted based on information we’ve stol…collected from you!
MS: I don’t get it, why does everyone hate us?
Just so I understand. Feminism can lump every male into a neat little box, and that’s considered ok? I think there’s a word for that.

Technology@lemmy.world•China car giant BYD says it can thrive without USEnglish
12·1 day agoThe question is can they survive when their cars catch on fire at an alarming rate? https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/hundreds-cars-burn-byd-fire-130025851.html
And they say batteries aren’t to blame, because you know car seats, electric motors, and body panels are known for just randomly catching fire. It obviously wasn’t the batteries /s
All we have is highly agitated sea bass. That’s the problem.

science@lemmy.world•China surpasses US in research spending – the consequences extend far beyond scientific ranking and cloutEnglish
31·1 day agoAnytime I see these posts I have to chuckle to myself. Living in China for 5 years myself, if you trust a single thing the CCP releases, you’re already screwed. Could this be true? Maybe, it’s possible. That’s the problem with lying about everything, and there’s no independent anything to verify what they’re actually coming up with, and it disclosed to anyone.
I’m sure most countries fudge numbers to a degree, China just makes them up half the time, literally. For example, their official covid death amount is 120,000 or so, but it’s close to a million or more. Like I said, I’m sure countries fudge this number to some extent, but 10x is pure BS.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What age did you not think you'd make it to and why?
6·1 day agoWell I knew I wouldn’t because I planned on committing suicide. I have type 1 diabetes (since 9) so before I started having problems I would just not have to deal with it.
Unfortunately or fortunately I met my wife at 32 who had a 5 year old and now I’d feel bad doing it. At 42 I’ve had 2 heart attacks 3 stints and I’m stage 5 kidney failure on dialysis. All from being diabetic, controlled blood sugars my entire life, worked out 3 days a week, don’t drink or smoke (never have). I’m just “lucky”. I’m on the list to get a new kidney and pancreas at the start of 2027, but we’ll see what happens. I’ve already made my peace so I just live one day at a time. Had a seizure and was intubated for 24 hours, for no reason doctors tell me about 3 months ago.
So yeah the plan was 35 and be done. Then this amazing woman messed it up.

32·3 days agoYeah, people don’t often realize the bull is literally being tortured by getting stabbed. Then it’s eventually killed. I mean if you’re killing animals for food do it as humane as possible, but for a show? No.

I mean I guess? You could say I want to wear it, and the risk of being executed isn’t considered because I want to wear it anyways? I find that hard to believe, but I donno.
