I have a system dynamics question! Maybe you could point me in the right direction? If I have the system response to a step input, what is the simplist way to derive the transfer function? I’ve only ever learned how to use a system to do modeling, not how to reverse engineer the model.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Getting told by Lemmy to stop taking drugs
8·9 days agoI loved mushrooms and acid, salvia was terrible. It’s super short and super intense. You may think “well it’s just 5 minutes” but it will not feel like 5 min. If you’re looking to expand your mind, mushrooms and acid are great. If you want to slice your brain in half and put the two halves in two separate dimensions with no personal introspection to speak of, try salvia.
He looks like Creedy from V for Vendetta.

5·15 days agoThis is not true. Northern cities are still extremely segregated. We say it’s because of economics now, but it’s effectively segregation. The underlying causes of the economic disperity largely remain in place also.

1·18 days agoIt’s also written by people in an agrarian culture so different than our culture today. The fact that it is still relevant at all is amazing. Like this is around the time germ theory was first proposed. Imagine if we still relied on a single document as the guiding principle for medicine established before germ theory was widely accepted.
There are faults with the founding fathers and their documents, but it amazes me how well the constitution has endured, not as an important document, but as a relevant document addressing issues we have today.
That is absolutely a valid philosophy; utilitarianism. Minimize the amount of suffering or conversely maximize happiness. Killing less innocent people will produce less suffering and is therefore the preferred option. If you are given three options: Increase suffering (guaranteed), Reduce suffering partially (probable), and reduce suffering greatly (highly improbable) it is logical to choose the scenario that has the highest chance of doing good. Of course we should strive for zero suffering, but we need to understand that making incremental improvements is better than choosing to do nothing.
