I turn my phone to minimum default brightness and enable extra dim before bed, that actually works pretty well most times, since usually there’s a little moonlight anyway.

‘Man’ is often used in the same way as ‘mankind’ which is how I’ve usually seen the quote interpreted. Clearly the article ‘a’ makes a very big difference but it still makes sense.

I’ve started saying “I like your _” when complimenting unusual accessories, it iz far better at conveying ones awe than just saying “nice _” in my experience.

Good point, I use K9 on my phone which I believe is the same thing as Thunderbird at this point. I am very used to the Thunderbird desktop UI though which does indeed display name and email address.
