What’s even the use case for Xbox right now? People with a PS5 or Switch won’t switch and money’s way too tight to buy another system. People with functional gaming PCs don’t need an Xbox.

So are they hoping there’s just a bunch of non-gamers out there that are right now looking for an excuse to spend $500+ to get started?

I saw some refurbished Series S models on their site for ~$330 and that is a good entry point for a “gamepass machine” but there can’t be that many in stock. $500 for a Series S that isn’t even guaranteed to run the latest and greatest just seems too high.

My reason is really simple: replacing Windows with Bazzite or whatever would be a lot of effort. If W11 ever bricks itself or does something hideously invasive (that I can’t disable or opt out of) then it becomes less of an effort than maintaining the status quo, and thus switching becomes the obvious choice.

Well we’re talking about the owner class, not just the guy himself.

Poor folks go through a lot as a result of being poor. It’s hard to express how miserable the constant stress is, and it’s not hard to understand how constant stress and the things we do to try and cope with it directly shorten lives.

Yeah, merely inflicting suffering on innocent people isn’t quite as bad as killing them outright but it’s such a small difference that I don’t see a lot to be gained from trying to differentiate them.

A video game company with a valuation in the billions of dollars, yes. Of which this guy was a co-founder and board member, meaning he was doing quite well for himself.

Meaning what? Generalization is how things work when you’re talking about populations and not individuals.

It’s a matter of scale, and what they do with the money. Wealth hoarding has reached the point where it’s a cause of inflation. The top 1% (and even moreso, the 1% of that 1%) have hoarded ao much wealth, and do nothing but essentially sit on that wealth, that it makes life more expensive for all of us in the working class.

Strictly speaking, yes they absolutely are hurting someone. Wage theft is a significant issue we face today.

You’re not wrong. But that line of reasoning is literally without end. You’re essentially talking about the problems that are caused by formal, enforced hierarchies.

Yeah people really hate it when you show them the obvious flaws in their reasoning. We don’t teach people in how to accept correction and learn from it in schools and it really shows. People lash out instead of just taking a moment to check their ego and process.

I’ll try to keep #2 in mind.

It’s about as Silent Hill as RE4 was Resident Evil. It’s a decent game on its own merits (with crappy writing) but anyone expecting SH1-3 type gameplay would probably be disappointed.

Weak writing aside, I think it’s still ultimately a step in a better direction for the series. Silent Hill as a series always was a little weak in the “gameplay” aspect and I appreciated the increased intensity of the melee focused gameplay. Ditch or at least mitigate the durability thing (because seriously, knives and pipes don’t break that fast!) and work guns back in here or there and I think it’d be a solid foundation to work from.
