Eh, it’s not just BBQ tho. Houston is America’s most international city and you can find restaurants serving cuisines from around the world all fighting tooth and nail to prove thselves against the competition. The Cajun, Tex-Mex, and Southwest American food is amazing. Some of the best Greek, Thai, and Indian I’ve ever tried, the only fancy Irish pub I’ve ever tried (try the Guiness Stew at McGonigals Mucky Duck), not to mention almost everything else from late-night Italian delivery to a literal Russian bar to an Ethiopian eatery. Want Phó, a street taco, sushi, and a slice of pizza after watching the game at a sports bar? They’re all just minutes away and they’re all great!

I’d love for the Dems to start acting like an actual opposition party, but they’re owned by the same billionaires and not much has changed in the ten years since the party took a collective shit on Bernie so Hillary Clinton could have “Her Turn” like it was owed to her.

Vote however you want, but you have to do more than just vote if you want anything to change.

This is obvious when you consider that “Conservatives” are more offended that trans people like myself might use a public restroom than the fact that ICE is running concentration camps and separating families from their children.

I believe you not making a good faith statement there, and instead trying to straw man the perspective you disagree with because your emotional about this and stereotyping people is the easy way out of self reflection. Why the statement is more or less true, I think your heart posture is one of anger, rather than empathy. (I know that’s a very judgy statement, and it could be wrong.)

Basically conservatism = traditionalism in my mind.

That’s a progressive perspective on conservatism, and expressing it as such places you further Left than most Democrats in office.

America’s self-described “Conservatives” are mostly christian nationalists who don’t seek to conserve key American traditions like multiculturalism, but rather to impose their moral ideals on those who they see as “degenerates” in society and would gladly cut off their noses if it would spite the faces of those they see as “other”.

Actually Conservative Christians are anti-Capitalists that care most about serving the needy and destitute and look down on the wealthy for their lack of charity. The self-proclaimed christians who voted a pedophile into office do not seek to conserve tradition, merely to preserve their own social status.

Not technically a relationahip anarchist, but my partners and I have been an item for more than 20 years. Feels weird that the bleeding edge of popular culture is finally catching up to where I was back in high school. XD
