This video made me unsubscribe from Kurzgesagt. The sensationalistic/story-telling tone of describing LLM actions is exactly what LLM-companies want. They did a small comparison to a virus and I think it is kinda fitting. But a virus is not alive just like LLMs.

10·8 days agoI want to believe. But X (formerly known as Twitter) and Facebook are still there. It may be a long death which is indistinguishable from (low-quality) life.
It is a shittext. But yes, the implication is of psychological nature.

Flour could be considered a processed food not a processed garbage. But typical american bread for example would be called “bread for toast” in my country and is considered a processed garbage.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Ubuntu's Rustification Has a New Milestone! Coreutils Migration is CompleteEnglish
11·22 days agoBut from all the things why core-utils? I don’t think it is common to need changes in core-utils. Now with this MIT version it may certainly be needed, because of broken compatibility. So it feels like instead of doing nothing (because they work as is) and using GNU core-utils they switch to MIT core-utils that are slightly incompatible and because of that need work. I would assume that it will certainly provide patches for MIT core-utils, but I am sure it will just make another platform target for scripts like macOS. Some GPL projects will change their scripts to make them work with Ubuntu.
I guess corporations will corporate.
Taking minimum federal wage of $7.25 Bob Cratchit would have around 73 hour work weeks. That makes around 10-11 hours a day every day or around 12 hours Monday to Saturday. It skews numbers, but still the destitution allegory works.
~I’m not an USA-ian.~

Does anyone remember Die Hard 2? There is a scene in it that movie that those kind of things happening in the USA remind me. In a military truck a soldier (Corporal Telford) has his throat slit by his superior (Major Grant) while the rest of the soldiers just sit there idly. He was killed because he was not one of “them”.
spoiler: a drastic photo from the mentioned movie scene
