Honestly, I didn’t know Artimus was happening. That’s how busy the news is. I saw memes about astronauts and Outlook, assumed it was the ISS, and only when I saw the pictures of the Earth from the moon was I like “Wait, what? We have humans going to the moon right now? And they’re already there? When did that happen?”

They’re living out their dreams, and doing something very rare for our species, and I wouldn’t recognize them if they were in line in front of me at the grocery store. Huh.

  • I know this is a stereotype, and doesn’t apply to all men or women, but I think it’s important. I think the woman thinks “if I’m important to you, you should represent me at my best”, which I could maybe see as a form of respect or something.

But the dude is like “I don’t love you for your best, I love you at your silliest. This is a photo of you no one else has, and gives me the feeling of when we’re together. Anyone can use your LinkedIn headshot or some photo from Instagram of you posing over some drinks.”

I’m not sure stereotypical women have noticed their guys while setting up an Instagram photo, but they’re not cherishing those moments 😛

  • I can least kinda appreciate this guy’s approach. If we assume that AI is a magic bullet, then it’s not crazy to assume we, the existing programmers, would resist it just to save our own jobs. Or we’d complain because it doesn’t do things our way, but we’re the old way and this is the new way. So maybe we’re just being whiny and can be ignored.

So he tested it to see for himself, and what he found was that he agreed with us, that it’s not worth it.

Ignoring experts is annoying, but doing some of your own science and getting first-hand experience isn’t always a bad idea.
