Dems know exactly how they could get a massive landslide in the midterms, and are choosing not to do it.

News@lemmy.world•Streamer 'Troll' Johnny Somali Found Guilty on All Counts, Sentenced to South Korean Prison Labor Camp For Public Nuisance CrimesEnglish
122·5 days agoThis is very true. I’ve got business past and present in many countries, and the US is by far the one we have to be the most careful to cover ourselves when dealing with.
What they’ve done is move all the stuff that a lot of countries’ governments would handle impartially through regulation or legislation, made them private civil matters, and called it “Freedom”. This incentivises people to file suits for anything they can think of, and those on the receiving end can end up bankrupted even when the courts rule in their favour.
Looking at how the clock in Windows defaults based on region, it seems to be mostly the Whiter of the former British colonies plus a few South American countries that use 12h (for computing, at least). The rest of the world are all 24h.
Does she refer to it as “hora militar” though?

Ok, I did that exact thing verbatim, and the entire first page of results are things that happened before anyone here was born.
I’m not about to claim they’re saintly in any way, for sure they have lots of well-documented internal issues with civil liberties, free speech, and oppression of minority groups, but the fact that you’re going so far into the past to make your case just makes it a case in support of the opposite view.

Now I’m convinced piracy is more ethical than feeding these monsters.
I also don’t consider it a change in my own values. It’s a change in how fucking awful and in need of dismantling the Corporation has got.

0·9 months agoPhrases like “renewing my subscription” in context of a fucking doorbell itself sounds so absurd to me.
Why? It’s logical to want your video footage held offsite so that burglars don’t just take the device you’re storing the footage of them on. Which means paying someone to store it for you. Which means a subscription. Even if you’re running AgentDVR on an offsite server that you control, you’re still paying money to the hosting company.
A raspberry (or the likes) with some run-of-the-mill ip-cam, some wifi-doorbell and AgentDVR would do the same for even less moneyz. And just for you, not the whole world. Wouldn’t take more than some hours of setup.
Wow. Do you have any idea what you sound like there?
(also, it’s not even true on its own terms. A raspberry pi plus all the components and equipment necessary to set up what you’re describing would be easily over $100, I paid $19 for my Chinese internet camera)

Yeah, I think this is a lot more plausible than the wall heating theory that someone further up got way more upvotes for.
