No reasonable person thinks that both parties are nearly identical. Those are people who we can safely dismiss when engaging in legitimate discourse. They’re also the type of numbskulls who will call you a fascist for defending basic free speech.

I think the saddest thing is that otherwise reasonable people spend more than a millisecond thinking about whether or not we live in a simulation.
