7·4 days agoAnd that’s that greatest swindle played against the working class… Allocating their pension towards holding stocks from toxic companies like meta.

20·4 days agoZuck, probably: " I don’t know why, they trust me. Dumbfucks"
I wish I could care about the poor shareholders with their 401ks, but get in line. the amount of damage this company has done to countless of people has created a long line up before anyone who should complain about their stock options.

Expropriate Google’s assets to make up for some of the loss.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Will the proliferation of AI slop lead to the renaissance of craftsmanship?
4·11 days agoNo because capitalism has an inherent tendency of degrading quality and increasing prices and costs because after all we need to make sure the oligarchs are comfortable.

19·11 days agoI find it hilarious when people call brave, a browser by an ad company basically, a good private browser.
I followed all their shenanigans over the years. No one should touch this bloated browser.
Copying… is fuuuuuuuuun 🎶🎵

4·17 days agoI don’t know the details of this study but it sounds like a basic result if you get people to rely on something for most of an activity and then you take it away vs those who are doing it manually, they’ve been given more progressively difficult challenges but they’ve been actually practicing and doing the work and hence internalizing it better.
It’s like those open versus closed book exams where those who actually study can do much better than those going through a book during the exam to figure it out. It’s about internalizing and practicing a material.
Not really surprising results. I guess the empirical verification is good.

Linux@lemmy.ml•SpaceXAI backs Omarchy, the controversial Linux distro, with $1.5 million in compute
2·17 days agoomarchy really doesn’t make any sense as a distro. If someone really wants an agent, Why have all that slop prepackaged when you can just generate it yourself and have swim in your own slop.
Are they really pegging their success on attracting people who can’t even copy paste a basic Hermes agent install script?
Yeah these people don’t stay with Linux and they’re attracting short lived attention and that’s it.
I kind of enjoy seeing these corporations donators burn their money and also their reputation.

they’ll be on the hook for decades and we can make sure they don’t cheap out on their reparations.
From my experience niri works well.
niri dank material shell (dms) is nice for that too. But yeah if you want something super lightweight you may just want to just config base niri yourself.

Linux@lemmy.ml•SpaceXAI backs Omarchy, the controversial Linux distro, with $1.5 million in compute
9·17 days agoWhile I agree Linux is inherently anti fragile and can survive enshittification by corporate goons, that amount of money that this dot file Linux installer will have a heavy effect on what projects get funded and which ones are left to their own.
There’s a nice donate page on the archlinux site and let me guess how much they’ll get from this foundation when afaik the arch team had turned down whatever partnership the dot file installer guy wanted. Should come anyways no strings attached right? Considering they’re funding hyprland. So using arch as a base would imply they would fund them no strings attached… Right? lol

Linux@lemmy.ml•SpaceXAI backs Omarchy, the controversial Linux distro, with $1.5 million in compute
22·18 days agolol some bigot loser 'we’re not political! 'who never used Linux before getting all this money and surprise he has little understanding, hence still a shitty release.
I tried it for a few weeks unfortunately just so i can see the trash first hand. and it is buggy, not intuitive to use, full of shit webapps for crap platforms and worthless because all of that agentic crap that you’d want can be easily done on a base arch install.

Technology@lemmy.world•Retailers are pulling back from self-checkout after years of theft, errors, and questionable time savingsEnglish
4·20 days agoI agree that’s not good. What else would I do if I had todownload an app to checkout or have to navigate their self checking that’s just a shit show all the time. If the store is being cheap, not properly hiring people and paying a good wage, that is not my responsibility and I’m not going to have to get some app so I can do my purchase and I’m absolutely not going to take my time to put the items back, and nor would the employees want that either.
I have no responsibility to do free labor for profit hungry criminals.
LFG! Good work, you are a champion 👑

There’s no way I’ll get an app. I get they’ll have methods to entice people but I held off getting Facebook when it was the big thing, I’ll be ready for when corpos want to fuck around.
In fact I welcome it to see how I do.

interesting! Thanks for that insight

Collection? I’m intrigued, what’s the range that these machines go for? How much would these sought out ones go for on average? Are they easy to fix and maintain, I guess something a hobbyist and collectors would learn to do?
Anyways, cool!

No, they didn’t. Please, let’s not interrupt… I want them to torch their subscriber numbers
