For some reason I had it in my head that the Romulans and their Star Empire were not known to the Federation at this time. I guess that’s not correct?

There never seems to be much commentary on these ‘Annotations’, but I think it’s because there’s just not much to say in response. I for one really enjoy reading them after viewing an episode.
