Political Memes@lemmy.world•Strange things are afoot at the Walter Reed
113·17 hours agoyeah, that may make for a funny movie, but it really makes no sense in real life.
It does make for a funny joke on a meme community, though.
Also, as I stated, there is already precedence for this happening, both in the current Trump administration’s cover up of health problems, as well as in US history. Woodrow Wilson was incapacitated from a stroke, and the first lady, Edith Wilson, effectively acted as president for several years, in a cover up.
you think if trump were dead, vance would what - not accept the office because he does not have the charisma and rather let someone publish tweets to pretend tump is alive? lol.
Consider that Vance could be kept unaware of the death by Trump’s circle, as well, while they figure out how to handle it and continue forward. The performance tweet could be as much for Vance as it is for the public.
Again, there is direct historical precedence for this. Why did Woodrow Wilson’s vice president, Thomas Marshall, not step forward to take the presidency from him? The answer is that he was not popular with the rest of his party (like Vance), so was also kept in the dark about Wilson’s stroke and the fact that Edith Wilson was acting in Wilson’s place.
lol. if your life is orchestrated by upvotes and downvotes, then i feel truly sorry for you. and let me remind you trump won popular vote, so enjoy your vox populi.
I’m not really sure what you mean by life being orchestrated by upvotes and downvotes. The vote counts are simply evidence that hundreds of other people understood and enjoyed this joke.
no need to reply
That’s not really how a forum for discussion like Lemmy works.

123·17 hours agoOh, you did ask a question! I didn’t read carefully enough. Thanks for quoting it for me, so that I could better identify what I missed.
Many believe that Trump did not write this tweet because it is not written in his usual tone/voice/cadence/vernacular. It just doesn’t sound like something he wrote.
The post title is a joke playing off that and the rumors of his death this weekend, although I believe he had made a public appearance this morning (not 100% sure), so the rumors were not correct.
The “conspiracy” would just be a weekend at bernies type situation where they are covering up the president’s health issues or lack of life. It’s already been happening consistently with his incontinence, dementia, and hand bruises, so there is precedence. I’m sure Vance would be happy to step forward but he is generally known to be unpopular outside of Peter Thiel’s circle within the GOP and does not have the “charisma” that Trump uses to command his MAGA base.
It is just a joke post, originally to a shitpost community, and now crossposted to a political meme community. The original post got a significant number of upvotes, this crosspost is gaining, and you’re already being voted down, so it seems that you’re kinda alone with this reaction. Everyone else appears to have understood it without issues.
Any more questions?

372·18 hours agoHuh? They’ve crossposted it, with the original title and original image, so nothing has been randomly mixed.
Walter Reed is the medical facility that treats the US president. The joke/implication is that Trump is dead or dying, and the tweet was written by someone else. Does it make sense to you now or are there further questions?

We do. It is specifically and explicitly an exception in the US Constitution:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

84·1 day agoThe wikipedia image for hot dog has only mustard on it, and the vast majority of images when searching for “hot dog” have mustard, or both mustard and ketchup, but I don’t see a single example of only ketchup. Only ketchup on a hotdog is usually what would be served to young children.

121·1 day agoMustard is the designated “normal” condiment for hot dogs, no??? Mustard+relish, maybe some diced onion. What was he supposed to have used, ketchup??? 🤢
Or did he use some “fancy” stone ground dijon mustard so people were offended it wasn’t just yellow mustard?
EDIT: I looked it up and it was spicy Dijon mustard on a hamburger, not a hot dog. That’s extra silly because hamburgers go with basically any condiment, from sriracha to aioli.
