Jews aren’t Republicans.

You are the one conflating these things
[…]
Is it so hard for you to understand this premise of Israeli regulatory capture of US politicians, and to see how this post alludes to that grim reality?
Don’t you see the contradiction here?

No it’s not reasonable. And it’s wrong: a few wear lubavitch hats; Lubavitchs are well known as anti-Zionist Jews, even if there are exceptions.
Mixing Zionism and Judaism is racist.

If it’s not that, what’s the “joke” here? That Trump is in the hands of Jews? That’s not better. It’s even worse.

I know enough to recognize Jews; if you name racist generalizations just because you see Jews you’re racist.

That’s antisemitism. Israel ≠ Jews, and please don’t perpetuate the racist trope that Jews are the bosses of politicians.
Continue with that kind of messages, and you’ll just justify the disgusting propaganda of Netanyahu.

2 decennia of difference, why not. It’s not nothing but it can work. But 12 whole months? 12? That’s just disgusting!

I agree that “you shall not pass” rings better than “you cannot pass”… McKellen mistakes are improvements… that speaks volumes about the man’s talent!

Tolkien’s sentence is “you cannot pass”. Ian McKellen made an error, and the error stuck 😁.
As far as I know, there’s no direct link between Verdun’s sentence and Gandalf’s, but it’s possible. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure there’s no link with ¡No pasarán!, as Tolkien was pro-Franco.
It’s a very loaded scene, with a lot of historical, mythological and theological underpinnings.
The expression “cheetahs run fast” is true, even if a slow cheetah, for example a wounded cheetah, is still a cheetah. Thus, the expression “men are trash” is true, even if a non-trashy man is still a man. The insistence on saying “not all men” every time someone says “men are trash” is just a new demonstration of the problem.
(I’m a cis man myself, BTW.)
Edit: this article explains it better than I could.
Men are trash sure; but so is this meme.

Ellul is a wonderful author, very inspiring. As someone inspired both by Christianity and anarchism, he’s one of the authors in my personal pantheon.
Just don’t read his texts about Israel.
I don’t do my job for the pay. I could do something else and be paid far much, but I chose the one in which I kind of struggle financially but that has meaning. A lot of people do that.
So the answer is: yes. I’d prefer to do my job in a money-less society than in ours!
