    If you’re waiting 12 hours in the triage area of the emergency department, then you probably should have either gone to your primary doc, or an urgent clinic.

    12 hours means either the waiting area is unusually full of extremely unstable patients, or you are especially stable yourself.

    I get that not everyone has access to different levels of care, but urgent clinics exist to take the load off the emergency departments.

      i dunno. last time i was waiting 12 hours in the triage area, my surgeon burst through the doors yelling at people for making me wait because he had a bed for me eleven hours ago. sometimes there’s a paperwork fuckup.

        Unfortunately, you also have to advocate for yourself as a patient. Ideally you have someone trusted along that can help with that, but if you’ve been sitting there for hours, you need to find out exactly what’s going on. Especially if it is serious.
