They don’t even tell you you’re doing a great job anymore becaise that just gives you more ammo to ask for a raise.
I’m the fastest and best at resolving phone calls in the office. my average call time is about half my peers.
my reward for this? well, it means I resolve my calls while everyone else is on the line, so as soon as I finish I immediately get another call. In an average day, I’m taking twice as many phone calls as anyone else.
oh wages? benefits? literally anything outside of the completely empty praise I get yearly during annual reviews? nah, just get passed over for promotions and have more work assigned.

comic about worker exploitation
Office humor isn’t political.
Non political office humor would be like shitty coworkers, interpersonal drama, or bosses having funny quirks. Something like this:

But management giving employees work that wouldn’t be given if your industry had strong worker protections or strong unions? Sorry, that’s hella political, both electorally and otherwise. The only way it isn’t is if you view overworking employees as an immutable fact of life; something that has never and can never be improved through political action.
I get how you could think that way if you never learned what regulations and unions can actually do. Maybe you’ve never experienced life with them, or maybe you’ve never imagined life without them. However, you’re just pulling the wool over your eyes because you’d rather think that “politics” have no effect on your life.
Please go touch some grass. Everything doesn’t need to be a political debate.
Sorry I invaded your safe space. I just find the idea of being “non-political” to be deeply offensive. It enables people to stand idly by as fascists ruin my life. Nothing makes me feel more hopeless than bystanders who chose to look the other way. It’s a crushing feeling that I genuinely hope you never experience.
It all comes down to emotions in the end; both your desire to avoid unpleasant ones, and my frustration at you doing so.
