It all boils down to keeping anything that doesn’t fit their world view into an out group. They will look for any reason even if its clearly a double standard. In fact with conservatives, hypocrisy might be the single trait they all hold in common.
Example using OP: Simultaneously hating queer folks, but spending their evenings named “👀 femmes” on grindr. Bonus points for specifying that they want either femboys, sissies, c/d, mtf, or ftm; implying that trans men are also low key women while continuing to fetishize everyone else.
