We got an induction stove just a couple of months ago and I agree. It’s absolutely incredible and I never want to use any other type of cooktop ever again.

      I just don’t get it.

So you start with A your raw ingredients and if you prepare it so that A is now B the food ready to be cooked and than you end up with C your cooked food I don’t understand how the process of A=B, B=C, A now magically = C??? Seems like pseudoscience to me. Where is the mechanism that turns A to C???

Misleading title. Electric stoves don’t do shit for asthma, but not having a gas stove does.

Guess what…poorer people don’t have induction stoves, and they live in poor areas with high levels of air pollution.

No one does shitty epidemiology quite like US universities. One wonders how many appliance companies funded that “research”.

I’d like to go 100% electric. The plan is to install another 5k ish kWh of solar and reinsulate.

If you can afford it, install the spray foam insulation that goes on the underside of the roof. We have a Habitat home/mortgage so it’s built for energy efficiency. Haven’t touched the AC since the hurricane two weeks ago. It takes hella heat to warm it up inside and I could almost go the winter without heat. Our power bill tops out at $180 in the summer.

I am worried about the horror stories of the off gassing with the spray foam… maybe that has improved. Also, how is the moisture handled?

Gas stoves suck for more than just asthma, but electric stove just suck, period. I hates them. I miss my gas stove at my last apartment, even if it otherwise was unhealthy. lol.

The thing I hate most about electric is the slow response. When making something like a roux, you REALLY want to turn down the heat and have the heat be down.

There’s mitigations - pulling the pot/skillet off the burner - but gas just works so much better.

    But… I have electric again, and it’s fine… just… sucks a little. heh.

I’m not clear either. I had never known there were any health issues at all until the last year or so.

Yes, yes, that’s it! Pass the savings blame onto the “customers”, per usual. It’s totally gas stoves that’re the real cause of our collective distress, not the untold millions of tons of untreated waste the same corpo fucks dump into the world, unchecked and unopposed. Yeah, that’s the solution. 🖕🏼

Om no, but there is abundant evidence gas stoves excaberate asthma and I don’t know about you but I definitely have encountered the idea that gas stoves were better than cheap electric stoves for years and years, which is why I shared this article.

Burning natural gas fires indoors just might have a lot to do with respiratory health in general, which makes sense, especially when you consider that it is burning a natural gas fire indoors, how is that political?

Are you legit ignoring the fact that there’s been no state or federal notice about said undeniable claim of direct danger to every single gas range household? Seems pretty fishy —excepting the current regime, ofc; this has been going on for quite some to time, fwiw.

An open fire in an indoor environment is putting carbon into the air, there is no getting around that. I don’t need a state or federal notice to understand how fire works and what happens to something when it is burned. There is no “clean burning” anything, anyone trying to tell you otherwise is selling you something. A gas stove is releasing known carcinogens and things that are actively antagonistic to respiratory conditions like asthma every time you use it.

This, exactly, and far too many seen just fine with that line of BS. It’s almost like that don’t know that “expiration” dates (or “best by”) are just marketing to pressure shops to refill their orders more frequently. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks, sweetie. You good with nibbling on the crumbs they deem safe for you to have? Have fun with that.

I’m sure the state of the world would immediately be solved if gas ranges were banned worldwide, yep. This is such an important topic among the slew of corpo greed issues threatening to end civilization as we know it.

FFS, the way things are going, no one’ll live long enough to contract the cancers they cause.

You can huff paint thinner all day if you want but not every study and news article needs to solve every problem in this world. There are people suffering from asthma in this world and if staying away from gas stoves improves their quality of life this info should be spread. Just because you are a cynical schozoposter doesn’t mean that you are always right
